Dublin Airport has two terminals, T1 and T2, connected by a covered walkway that takes 5 to 10 minutes to walk. Which one you need depends almost entirely on your airline: T1 handles Ryanair and most short-haul carriers, and T2 handles Aer Lingus and every long-haul and U.S. flight.
The quick way to check
The simplest rule is airline-based. If you are flying Ryanair or most other short-haul, low-cost carriers, you will almost always be in T1. If you are flying Aer Lingus, or any long-haul or transatlantic service, including every direct flight to the United States, you will be in T2. Your boarding pass or airline confirmation email will also state the terminal directly, so it is worth checking that rather than assuming based on airline alone if you are unsure.
T1 at a glance
T1 is the older and larger of the two terminals. It is used mostly by Ryanair and most other short-haul and low-cost airlines. On arrival, the taxi rank sits on the arrivals road directly outside the terminal, in the Zone 3 area. If you are catching a coach, Dublin Express departs from Zones 1 and 21, and Aircoach 700 from Zones 2 and 20, both of which are shared across the two terminals rather than being exclusively T1 or T2. TFI public bus routes use Zones 11, 13 and 15.
T1's facilities include a Changing Places toilet before security, in the arrivals hall beside the Click and Collect desk, and assistance buggies that run within T1 covering Gates 101 to 121, from 05:00 to 22:00 daily with no pre-booking needed. Left luggage is on the left just after the main doors in T1 Arrivals, run by Smarte Carte. T1's Garden Terrace Bar has also been reported to have an outdoor smoking area, though you should confirm this is still the case if it matters to your journey. T1 also has two of the airport's four lounges, the Phoenix and the Martello.
T2 at a glance
T2 is the newer terminal and home to Aer Lingus, plus most long-haul and all transatlantic services, including Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Delta and United. Every direct flight to the United States departs from T2, because U.S. Preclearance, where you clear American immigration and customs before boarding, is located here and nowhere else in the airport.
On arrival, the taxi rank sits on the arrivals road directly outside T2, in the Zone 20 area. T2's own facilities include a Changing Places toilet after security in the shopping area beside the washrooms, a Pet Relief Room after security near Butler's, and a multi-faith prayer room on the departures level, just before the boarding-card area. Left luggage in T2 is in Departures, by the American Airlines check-in desk. T2 also has the Phoenix and Martello lounges, plus the 51st and Green Lounge, which sits airside beyond U.S. Preclearance and is only usable by passengers who have cleared it.
Walking between the two terminals
T1 and T2 are connected by a short covered internal walkway, and the walk between them takes roughly 5 to 10 minutes. The Liffey Lounge sits on this connecting corridor, on Level 1, so it is accessible from either terminal without needing to fully commit to one side or the other, which makes it a practical option if your travelling party is split across two flights from different terminals.
Parking and drop-off apply to both terminals
Unlike the taxi ranks and bus zones, the main car parks are not terminal-specific. The Short-Term car park, Express Red and Holiday Blue all serve both T1 and T2, so you do not need to pick a different car park depending on which terminal you are flying from, only the walking distance from where you park to your terminal's entrance will vary slightly. The same applies to the Express Red drop-off zones, which operate at both terminal forecourts with the first 10 minutes free.
